The Ladies rocked the Oscar Carpet, last Sunday. The award season ended with high dress drama and trends that will find their way to future Proms across the country. Maybe, a brave woman will wear a version of something they liked to a summer wedding? Who cares about upstaging the bride? A lady in red will always turn heads. That’s what I learned from watching eighties movies. Who can forget Kelly LeBrock in the film,The Woman in Red circa 1984?

Michelle Williams did not win an Oscar as Best Actress, but she won Jace’s Musing Best Dressed at the 2012 Oscar Ceremony. I loved the color. Officially, the stunning dress was determined to be the color Burnt Orange, but the only thing burnt were the women that Michelle Will left in her wake.

I especially loved Michelle’s bare shoulders against the tight corseted bodice with a Nude corset detail in the back. I loved the contrast of the Burnt Orange color of the dress set against the Nude back. Michelle Williams’ porcelain skin tone was deftly juxtaposed  with the Nude corset detail. A very sexy and daring fashion choice. Instead, of a total Burnt Orange dress, Michelle pumped up the dress factor with the Nude tone back. I loved the risky, ballsy fashion decision. Yes, Girls can have balls when it comes to taking fashion risks. Michelle knocked her balls out of the park with the two-toned dress. Hot, Hot, H-O-T!!!

The Louis Vuitton dress was draped with tulle peplum –learn this word. Basically, it’s a fancy way of saying cinched organza draping and tulle ruffles. Michelle kept the dress young with a charming Fred Leighton diamond bow brooch and a pave diamond necklace. The placement of the diamond bow brooch on the hip was a clever touch of sophistication. It was cute and whimsical touche like her blond waify, pixey tresses, and red vamp lips.

Michelle Willaims also, wore a pink Louis Vuitton evening clutch with Christian Louboutin heels. Pairing a bright, vibrant red color dress with a splash of pink in the handbag added a needed pop of color, and kept the eye moving. Rather than losing oneself in the dress, shoes, and evening clutch in a monochromatic haze, Michelle Williams poked fun at matchy-matchy fashion. The taste level of the observer, and wearer is increased by adding a simple, dramatic color to a monochromatic palette when the eye is jolted by a small, playful color detail.

Michelle Williams if you are reading this I wanted to congratulate you with my version of BEST DRESSED in the form of your very own, Fred Leighton diamond brooch. I hope you kept that brooch? If not, I am buying you your own diamond brooch as my WINNER.I expect you to track me down. I suppose you’ll accept a Swarovski version until I cash my first Vogue Editor check? LOL!

I suppose I could talk about other Best Dressed contenders, but I really have few nice things to say. And I admit I only, had eyes for you, Michelle Williams. No other dress received so much press and deservedly, so. I hope your next Oscar role finds you rewarded. You were Marylin Monroe body and soul, and my favorite performance of last year.

So, I will keep my illicit musings for close friends, and leave the trash talking to People Magazine. Certainly, others came close to being considered honorable Best Dresses, but I honestly, find them to be pale shadows of Michelle Williams’ Louis Vuitton Haute Couture dress. (Period)

Marion Cotillard’s Life/Vie in/en Pink/Rose

Marion Cotillard is the CORRECT answer. Congratulations, smart LADY. You know who you are. I will feature a future blog next week on a celebrity of your choice. So far, you have given me three choices, and I don’t know who to invite?

Yes, during Marion Cotillard’s Oscar Acceptance Speech for the film, La Vie en Rose in 2007, Marion said, “Thank you life, thank you love, and – it is true – there [are] some angels in this city.”

I chose to feature Marion Cotillard for a few reasons: her incandescent beauty, her gentle strength, her acting pedigree, and her philanthropic accomplishments.

First, her beauty is easy to answer. Marion Cotillard has beautiful skin. She’s a brunette bombshell. And her eyes are a serene, placid, steely, blue. Marion has been the face of Christian Dior for more than a decade.

Marion Cotillard’s strength comes from playing challenging roles. As Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, Marion Cotillard physically, transformed herself into the Song Bird’s skin and inhabited her soul. Aging decades during the film, seamlessly.  Her incarnation as the Songstress has been called the best ever on film by Trevor Nunn. He should know. Trevor Nunn was the British director of many of the greatest Musicals on Broadway, including: Cats, and Les Miserables.

Marion Cotillard sung herself all of the film’s Edith Piaf songs, and has been quoted as saying that had she not been an actress she would like to have been a professional singer. A lot, can be said of this movie. Marion is only, the second actress to win an Oscar for a foreign movie role. Marion Cotillard is French BTW. The first actress to win an Oscar for a foreign film is the glamorous, and voluptuous, Ms. Sophia Loren. Sophia Loren won her Oscar in 1962 for the movie, Two Women. Oui, Marion Cotillard is sitting in good Oscar company.

Marion Cotillard’s pedigree comes from her strong artistic roots. Both Marion’s parents are both actors. Her father Jean-Claude Cotillard is an actor, playwright, and director. Marion’s mother Niseema Theillaud is an actress and drama teacher.  Marion Cotillard studied at the prestigious Conservatoire d’Art Dramatique in Orleans, France. First appearing on stage in one of her father’s plays.  This is an example of good nepotism.

Lastly, Marion Cotillard is an inspiring humanitarian. She is the Spokeswoman for Greenpeace and has campaigned arduously, for climate legislation. Marion Cotillard sung on an album “Dessins pour le climat” released by Greenpeace and Glenat. All the proceeds for the sale of this album go directly to Greenpeace. Please, visit Greenpeace’s website to get your copy. I bought mine.

Marion Cotillard has received many accolades for her Edith Piaf role. In 2007, Marion Cotillard won a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, an Oscar, and the French Cesar.  Quite impressive, n’est-ce pas? Marion Cotillard’s greatest role is perhaps motherhood. She and her partner since 2007, Guillame Canet had their first child, Marcel Carnet on May 19, 2011 in Paris, France.

I dedicate this article to the young Marcel Canet. What beautiful parents you have. I hope he was named after the greatest French author at the turn of the 20th century, Marcel Proust?

May I suggest a few French and English films of Marion Cotillard’s for your viewing pleasure. Bien sur, I chose a few French films, so you better enjoy reading subtitles. Although, I don’t know how you could try when you see Marion Cotillard on film. Simply, mesmerizing.

We are very thankful to have Marion Cotillard among us. Thank you, Marion. Thank you, Marion Cotillard’s life. Thank you, Marion Cotillard’s love. Marion Cotillard, you are my angle. Merci, Muse.
